// Why Motorhome Insurance Matters \\

A Vehicle And A Home At The Same Time

A motorhome carries two kinds of risk. Auto policies tend to stop at the driver's seat. Home policies stay behind at the house. Peachy's motorhome coverage is written to respond to both sides.

EMERGENCY EXPENSE

Helps with lodging and transportation if a covered loss strands you far from home.

PERSONAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

Your belongings inside the motorhome can be protected if they’re damaged, lost, or stolen.

TOWED VEHICLE

Coverage that can extend to the car you tow behind you.

How Much Does Motorhome Insurance Cost?

Motorhome premiums vary more than auto premiums do. A Class B van and a forty foot Class A are priced differently, and so are a weekend traveler and someone who takes longer or more frequent trips. These are some of the factors that move your number.

CLASS AND VALUE

A Class A, Class B, or Class C changes the math, along with the age and value of the coach.

HOW YOU USE IT

Weekend trips, seasonal travel, and frequent use each price differently.

WHERE IT SITS

Storage location and off-season months affect the rate as much as driving does.

// Motorhome Insurance Terms \\

Motorhome Insurance Terms, Explained

Get familiar with common motorhome insurance terms and what they mean for your coverage. Understanding these basics can make it easier to compare options and choose the protection that fits your needs.

Actual Cash Value

What the coach is worth today, after depreciation. This is the default valuation on most policies.

Agreed Value

A figure you and the carrier set when the policy starts. It does not drop as the coach ages.

Total Loss Replacement

Replaces a totaled coach with a comparable new model instead of paying depreciated value. Eligibility usually depends on the age of the coach and whether you bought it new.

Vacation Liability

Liability coverage that may apply if someone is injured in or around your motor home while it’s parked at a campsite.

Deductible

What you pay on a covered claim before coverage applies. A higher deductible usually means a lower premium.

Comprehensive And Collision

Collision applies to impact and rollover. Comprehensive applies to most everything else, including theft, fire, hail, falling limbs, and animal strikes.

Attached And Unattached

Attached means bolted or permanently mounted, like an awning or solar panel. Unattached means what you carry in and out. Different coverage applies to each.

Liability Limits

Usually written as three numbers. Bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident, and property damage per accident.

Lay-Up Period

The months the coach sits parked instead of on the road. Some policies let you adjust coverage during that window.

Usually not, or not fully. A standard auto policy is written for a vehicle, and a motorhome is a vehicle and a residence at the same time. Contents, attached equipment, and liability while parked at a campsite generally fall outside what an auto policy addresses.
Yes, if it is registered and driven on public roads. Most states require liability coverage regardless of how often you use it. Some policies let you adjust coverage during the months the coach sits parked, which is worth asking about if you store it seasonally.
Not automatically. The towed vehicle usually needs its own coverage or a specific extension on the motorhome policy. Coverage can also differ depending on whether you flat tow, use a dolly, or use a trailer.
Personal effects coverage can apply to the clothing, electronics, and gear you keep inside. It is often a separate coverage with its own limit rather than something included by default, so the limit is worth confirming.
Actual cash value pays what the coach is worth today, after depreciation. Agreed value sets a figure when the policy starts that does not drop as the coach ages. Total loss replacement is a third option that can replace a totaled coach with a comparable new model, though eligibility usually depends on the age of the coach.
Vacation liability can apply while the coach is parked and set up. It is built for the time you spend at the site rather than on the road, and it is often separate from the liability that applies while driving.
